The Business Service Points of the ELY Centres around Finland provide first-hand advisory services for prospective entrepreneurs and businesses that are already in their start-up phase. The business advisors at the Business Service Points assist novice entrepreneurs in clarifying and developing their business idea, surveying the financing alternatives, and taking care of the business set-up formalities.

Each Business Service Point also provides the services of the National Board of Patents and Registration relating to business set-up (Trade Register), as well as the services of the Innovation Agent. Start-up notifications can also be filed at the Business Service Points. Once a new company has filed its start-up notification, it may also obtain a business ID from the Business Service Point. The Innovation Agents provide assistance in the protection and commercialisation of ideas and innovations.
