| | Private entrepreneur An EEA resident may act as a private entrepreneur. Non-EEA residents need a permit from the National Board of Patents and Registration. With regard to the establishment of a business, citizenship is not of importance. The decisive factor is the individual's permanent place of residence. AuditorsThere are no statutory provisions concerning the audit of a private entrepreneur's accounts. Establishment for legal purposesA private entrepreneur's business is established when the entrepreneur starts his/her activities. Establishment documentsA private entrepreneur need not draw up a separate Charter of Foundation when setting up a business. Legal actsThe private entrepreneur himself/herself acts on behalf of the company, represents the business and writes the business name. See Administration and organs. Holder of procurationAn entrepreneur who has been entered in the trade register may authorise another person as a holder of procuration by granting him/her a power of attorney, which is defined as procuration in the text, or by showing other proof of the matter. There are no statutory requirements concerning the citizenship or place of residence of the holder of procuration. The holder of procuration may be entered in the trade register. RepresentativeIf neither the private entrepreneur nor the person entered in the trade register as a holder of procuration are Finnish residents, the entrepreneur must appoint a representative domiciled in Finland. The representative is to be entered in the trade register. Administration and organsThe private entrepreneur himself/herself acts on behalf of the company.
